Jeannette believed that the strength and beauty of a community comes from those who live and work in it. She would donate up to 10% of every real estate commission to the nonprofit of her client’s choice. Jeannette wanted to give her clients the opportunity to support a cause close to their heart. Her client would choose the non-profit and then she would designate a “first fruits” 10% of her commission tithe to a foundation that would send a check to the designated non-profit.
Due to the kindness of CFHZ (Community Foundation of Holland-Zeeland), you can honor her legacy and be Jeannette! Whether you are a broker or agent, buyer or seller, donor or nonprofit you have a part to play. Together we can BBC (build beloved communities) through our support of local nonprofits.
How it works:
Everyone can participate in the JBBBC (Jeannette Brownson Building Beloved Communities) fund. Buyers and sellers designate. Realtors donate. Matching fund donors deliver. CFHZ distributes. Nonprofits make a difference.
Brokers can make donations out of agent commissions after closing. Or your title company can write a check at closing directly to the Foundation. Partnering with Transnation Title, Jeannette is able to donate 10% of each commission to over 60 different nonprofits for a total of over $100,000. Still, it takes her 10 years to get there. We are simply asking Realtors to donate a minimum of $100 per commission.
We’ve provided a list of some of the nonprofits that Jeannette donates to in the past. Realtors and their clients are free to choose from that list or suggest another local nonprofit not listed. Thanks for partnering with us in this home grown giving enterprise.
Below is a link for anyone who might want to make a credit card contribution to Jeannette’s matching fund. Presently we have a balance of approximately $25,000.
Realtors remember. The Fund will add a 50% match to your donation and send the total to the non-profit of your client’s choosing.
